Story of the Immigration
Thirteen years after the Prophet Muhammad received the revelation in Mecca, he was ordered by God to immigrate to the city of al-Medina, which is about 280 miles away. He left his home, where his enemies were waiting outside to kill him. These enemies all fell asleep. The Prophet put sand on their heads as he passed. He immigrated with his companion, Abu Bakr. There were people following them, intending to kill them. The Prophet and his companion stayed in the cave of Thowr. Upon their arrival, a spider wove her web to cover the opening and the pigeon made her nest and laid an egg so that the cave seemed uninhabited. The enemies stood next to the cave but said no one is inside since the web was not broken and the pigeon didnt fly away so they didnt look inside and they left. After some time the Prophet and his companion continued until they reached al Medina. It took them 10 to 12 days to complete their journey. The Muslims were very happy at their arrival.
